| Winemaker's Notes |
This year we’re very pleased to honor Tom Mukaida with this outstanding vineyard block designate. Tom is the father-in-law of Randy Peters, one of our long-standing growers and is a 3rd generation grower. Tom began his farming career with apples. In the early 80’s Randy convinced him that there was a future in grapes and encouraged him to convert his apple orchards into vineyards and we’re very glad he did. His finely honed farming abilities and ideal local on Bodega Highway in Sebastopol translated well to grapes. Today they’ve got an exceptional collection of Pommard and 777 Pinot Noir clones that we rely on year after year. The fruit for this wine was carefully selected to be ’the best of the best’! It was whole-berry fermented and aged primarily on new oak.
The 2004 growing season was quite unusual. It was very warm early in the season which resulted in the grapes ripening very early. The sugars were high, so the fermentation process was quite a challenge. We held round the clock watches while the grapes were fermenting—they needed checking every hour. The harvest was the most difficult I have every personally participated in. As you can well imagine, we’re very thrilled with the outcome after such a tough harvest. We hope you enjoy the fruits of our labor!

| Tasting Notes |
This seductive wine begins with its beautiful ruby color. On the nose you're further seduced by toast, caramel, strawberry. Upon the first sip you'll be treated to a silky entrance followed by spicy flavors, caramel and smooth tannins. The long sweet oaky finish lingers pleasantly&emdash; just a mouthful! |
