| Winemaker's Notes |
We’ve been using fruit from the Elsbree Vineyards for blending in our Russian River Valley Pinot for a few years now. After tasting this fruit before bottling, it was a unanimous decision to bottle it as a vineyard designate this year.
Elsbree Vineyards is located in Windsor off Arata Lane. They continually produce excellent fruit. Planted on a steep knob, the vineyard has a mix of Pinot Clones on different rootstocks. This gives the grapes a superior field-blend of flavors; fruit with plenty of layers and superb depth.
The 2004 growing season was quite unusual. It was very warm early in the season which resulted in the grapes ripening very early. The sugars were high, so the fermentation process was quite a challenge. We held round the clock watches while the grapes were fermenting—they needed checking every hour. The harvest was the most difficult I have every personally participated in. As you can well imagine, we’re very thrilled with the outcome after such a tough harvest. We hope you enjoy the fruits of our labor!

| Tasting Notes |
Pleasing ruby color invites you to breath in the nose of spice, strawberry and smoke. Once on the palate you'll delight in the spice, cinnamon, nutmeg and earthly flavors enhanced by the structured tannins and well balanced acid. The long finish is full of spice and ripe fruit. |
