| Winemaker's Notes |
We are happy to introduce a new Zinfandel from grapes grown right here on the winery property at Timebercrest Farms. We literally got to watch these grapes grow. The 2007 crop was abundant and we were lucky enough to be able to benefit and purchase some of these wonderful grapes.
The wine from these vineyards may be the best Zinfandel we have ever produced. It is full bodied and luscious with fantastic flavor. As Bruce Perry exclaimed “this is a freakin’ great bottle of wine!” (ok, so he didn’t really say ‘freakin’).
We use many of the same techniques with our Zinfandel as with our Pinot Noir. We cold-soak the grapes for three days and once the fermentation begins we hand punch the grapes in open-top fermenters, a method not commonly used with Zinfandel. The wine was then aged for 15 months in Francois Frères oak barrels. We always keep the grapes separate throughout the process so we can make blending decisions after the grapes have evolved independently. Because we make our Zinfandel using the same techniques as our Pinot Noir, our Zin really appeals to the Pinot lover.

| Tasting Notes |
Deep garnet in color leading to a very pleasing nose of cedar, old leather and berry. Flavors of berry, fruitcake, and boysenberry, with juicy briary notes on the palette and hints of vanilla coming from the wonderful French Oak. This is a well integrated, delicious bottle of wine. It tastes wonderful now, and will only improve with age. Drink now through 1017. |
